A CAPTIVATING performance by Holyrood Academy pupils has been heralded as the one of the best shows the school has seen as the school got a taste of the 80s.

Staging The Wedding Singer, budding young actors, singers and musicians wowed audiences at the Zembard Lane school last week.

Music teacher Trevor LloydJones said: “It was a terrific show – the students gave it loads of energy in every performance, and the music and singing were a triumph.

“The main characters were portrayed strongly and the chorus looked wonderful in their glorious 80s costumes.”

Teacher Jenny Lowe said: “The cast this year was one of the hardest working casts we’ve had.

“The amount of energy each student put into the performances was incredible and we’re proud of every performer.

“A special well done does need to go to Sam Pullen and Tiago Martins for a great final performance.”

Cast member Lorelei Larter-Webber said: “This was my first show at Holyrood and it was so great to be a part of it.

“Everyone involved was fun to be around, especially working with the older students at the school because I learned so much from them.”

Audience members who signed the official guest book also sang the praises of the performers: “I haven’t had this much fun since my own wedding!”

“Wish I could see it every night.”

“I’ve seen every show Holyrood has done and this was by far my favourite.”
