A CHARD firm is taking a hands-on role in bringing to life the new pavilion at Somerset County Cricket Ground.

Large amounts of steelworks have begun at the Taunton venue in place of the crumbling pavilion and main contractors R.G. Spiller are pleased to be part of the new lease of life.

Sean Johnson, the site foreman for the Chard company, said: “Things are going well for us on site and people can start to see that things are happening and the steelwork is going up.

“It's always a nice feeling when you are putting something back almost into the same position as the one you demolished, but in a modern theme.”
