STUDENTS at the Holyrood Academy, in Chard, have been congratulated on another excellent year of achievement.

Holyrood held its annual awards evening last week and students, parents, teachers, governors and special guests gathered for a night of celebration and a look back on the successes of 2013/14.

The well-attended evening recognised 96 students from Years 8-11 for outstanding achievements, citizenship and effort, while there were also subject prizes for over 50 students who had excelled in GCSE and A-level subjects.

Martin Brook, principal of Holyrood Academy, said: “It is the ultimate privilege as the head to be part of the evening like this where the sole purpose is to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students.

“What I particularly like was seeing the Year 7 students alongside our senior students, many of whom were returning after their first term away at university.

“It was an uplifting evening in every sense.”
