CHARD’s Wednesday community cooking group, Bubble and Speak Community Kitchen, is organising a Christmas festival of food related activities.

The CHAR-Delicious Christmas – Chard’s cheap and easy food festival, will be taking place December 13, in The Guildhall from 10am-3pm.

There will be a host of Christmas-themed ideas to help transform your festive season.

Sarah and the team from Eleos Cafe will be making Christmas pancakes, costing £2 with half of the money going to local charities.

There will be demonstrations of winter soups and salads, with free samples for people to try.

The volunteer cooks preparing them will include members of Bubble and Speak, which meets every Wednesday at 11am in the Guildhall to cook a two-course meal and learn more about cooking great tasting health food on a budget.

Kate Rew, who runs Bubble & Speak, said: "CHAR-Delicious Christmas food festival is a chance to discover fun new ways to enjoy the festive season, using seasonal ingredients to make delicious Christmas dishes.”

Another highlight of the day will be the Christmas leftovers challenge – with prizes donated by local businesses for the best ideas of how to use of all those delicious tit-bits.

And children can make gingerbread decorations for your tree or display.

The first CHAR-Delicious event was held in May and was very successful.

Kate also works as an NHS Fresh Steps health trainer in the town.

She added: "Many of the people I work with have transformed their lives by getting together to cook delicious, healthy meals on a budget – I hope many more people in the Chard area can get involved.”

Entry is free to the festival and all are welcome.
