A MEMBER of a Chard skittles league who has cancer has thanked the Beacon Centre in Taunton by presenting it with a cheque for all its hard work.
Geraldine Dennis, a member of Chard Domino Summer Skittles League, was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and, with the support of the centre at Musgrove Park Hospital, has been able to have life-saving operations.
Mrs Dennis said: “I had a really nice time meeting the staff at the Beacon Centre and it was nice to see one of my surgeons, Dr Edwards. The £1,175 raised was given to me by other members of the skittles league for me to then donate to a charity of my choice. If it wasn’t for the Beacon Centre and the chemotherapy treatment I received, I wouldn’t have been well enough to have surgery.”
