YEOVIL constituency MP David Laws has held talks with Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin about improving the A303 and the A358.
Mr Laws wants to see the A303 east of the Blackdown Hills turned into a dual carriageway and has called for an extra carriageway to be added to the A358 between the M5 and Ilminster.
He said: “My meeting with the Transport Secretary was a very positive one.
“I had the opportunity to talk him through the considerable list of problems which motorists face when they use the A303 and I was able to highlight how important it is for everybody in our region that the entire length of the road to the east of the Blackdown Hills is dualled.
“We have had to put up with a road which often causes staggeringly long delays for far too long.
“It is in the best interests of everybody in the region that the road is dualled so that the South- West can rely on an improved transport infrastructure which adequately serves our needs.
“At the moment we simply do not have that.”
