CHARD'S Manor Court Cubs celebrated 90 years of Cub Scouting with a party at the CRESTA leisure centre.

The party marked the first public gathering of 'wolf cubs', which took place on December 16, 1916, at Caxton Hall, near Westminster Abbey.

Manor Court Scout Group has been raising funds for many years and thanks to generous sponsors will be ready to officially open its new premises in 2007, which will be available for group and community use.

A special tea and cakes were prepared for the anniversary as well as a session of games.

Cubs, Scouts and Beaver groups meet weekly during term time.

The Scout group is looking for a new leader. Anyone interested in finding out more, including potential members and leaders, can contact group scout leader Bob Hollick on 01460-220595.
