CHARD'S Radio 1 star Gareth Smith returned to the place where he shot to fame last week for a showbiz book launch.
Gareth, who works at ACI, was invited to London last Monday for the launch of 'Laura's Diary', the long-awaited and tear-jerking book charting the teenage years of Laura Sayers, assistant to DJ Scott Mills on Radio 1.
Gareth shot to fame in April when he won One Night With Laura, a competition to take unlucky-in-love Laura to Paris after wooing her with a series of quirky on-air antics.
Although true love did not blossom in the city of romance, there was a happy ending for both.
Gareth now has a new girlfriend, workmate Louise Blackham from Horton, while Laura is dating another One Night With Laura contestant, James Busson.
The competition resulted in several primetime mentions for the Chard and Ilminster News on Radio 1.
