New year and a new screen

THE people behind Chard's cinema club are hoping to get their new screen installed by January.

As reported, the Screen at the Guildhall organisers were delighted to land £5,000 in Lottery money for a new, permanent screen in the main auditorium.

Negotiations are now under way with Chard Town Council and English Heritage on exactly where to site the screen.

Organiser Belinda Bather said: "We're very pleased to get the award through. We hope to get the screen installed for the January screening."

'Walk the Line', a biopic of Johnny Cash starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, is being shown on January 16.
