STAFF from Sainsbury’s in Chard will be heading for the CRESTA swimming pool at the leisure centre in town on Sunday for a sponsored swim.

They are raising funds for the Rosie Crane Trust, a local charity that supports bereaved parents.

The Trust is the store’s designated charity of the year and the swim is the latest fundraising venture in a year-long programme of activities by staff.

The team of six swimmers has to complete 65 lengths of the pool – one-mile – in a relay. The swim will take place between 1pm and 2.30pm and the pool will be closed temporarily to the public during this time.

Carole Ward, from Sainsbury’s in Chard, said the swim was the latest fundraising venture for a ‘very important cause’.

“Every year we designate a charity of the year and for the past 12 months we have been raising funds for the Rosie Crane Trust,” she said.

“We felt this was a very worthwhile local charity to support as it helps bereaved parents who have lost children whatever their age and it offers valuable advice and support for families at a devastating time in their lives.”

Carole added: “We hope the sponsored swim will raise even more money in what has been a very busy and successful fundraising year.”

Anyone who wants to make a donation can do so at the Sainsbury’s store in Chard.
