Fire crews tackle blaze at mid terraced property in Chard
A FIRE caused severe damage to a three storey mid terraced property in Chard earlier this evening.
After arriving at the scene in Victoria Avenue just before 5pm, crews from Chard had to call in further assistance from Ilminster and Yeovil.
Fire engines from Crewkerne and Axminster also attended the scene a few minutes later along with The Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support Service.
Crews tackled the blaze, which started on the ground floor, with three hose reel jets, six breathing apparatus, one covering jet and positive pressure ventilation.
Western Power, police and ambulance also attended the incident. After invesitgation the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
