Serious accident at Hornsbury Hill

THERE has been a serious accident this afternoon at Hornsbury Hill on the outskirts of CHard.

At just before 3pm outside the Roxborough Garage there was a collision which left a car trapped underneath the trailer of a HGV.

A number of emergency vehicles involving police, ambulance and fire service are at the scene along with the Air Ambulance.

The A358 between Chard and the turning for Ilminster is closed to traffic. Motorists are being urged to take sensible action and to avoid lanes around the hamlet of Nimmer to bypass the accident scene.

There are already large queues of traffic around Combe St Nicholas as motorists from Chard use the Crimchard road on their way to the main A303.
