THE Ilminster-based Gemini Carnival Club has announced that Bad Manners WILL be performing at the Donyatt Arena next month.

There had been total confusion last week when the club firstly announced that the two-night Big Summer Party at Donyatt Arena – better known as Donyatt Bowling Club – had been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances” believed to be a disappointing lack in ticket sales.

But a couple of days later, the club announced that the musical event could still be taking place following a change of heart by organisers.

Now the club has confirmed that the Big Summer Party will be staged on one night only on June 9 with Buster Bloodvessel and his Bad Manners headlining the gig with local bands in support.

Club spokesman Joanna Strawbridge said: “Buster is still heading for Donyatt on June 9! But unfortunately the concert planned for June 8 has had to be cancelled.

“Tickets for this one-night event are just £10 from club members and other outlets within the town.

“Anybody who has already bought a two-night ticket needs to bring all parts of it with them on the Saturday night and the now cancelled Friday ticket will be exchanged for drinks vouchers.”

Club chairman Gary Bealey has urged people to support Gemini and Carnival in general by buying tickets.

“If people want to see Carnival continue then I would appeal to them to come out and support this event,” he said. “People have been very supportive of us in the past and we hope they will so again.”

Tickets are available from Texaco Ilminster, Harrimans in Ilminster and Chard, via club members and from the Bristol Ticket Shop at bristolticketshop.co.uk.

NEWS FROM MAY 17: ILMINSTER-BASED Gemini Carnival Club has reported that it has decided to cancel this year's Big Summer Party.

The two-day musical event on June 8-9 - headlined by the larger-than-life Buster Bloodvessel and his band Bad Manners - was set to be held at the Donyatt Arena at Donyatt Bowling Club.

But club spokesman Joanna Strawbridge has told the News that the difficult decision to cancel the show had been taken due to "unforeseen circumstances beyond our control."

"We hope to be able to plan a different date later in the year," she said.

"Anybody who has purchased tickets is advised to either keep their ticket and it will be valid for our next event or request a refund."

Joanna added: "The Carnival club would like to send our apologies for any inconvenience this has caused."

Gemini chairman Gary Bealey had told the News last week that ticket sales had been disappointing.

Anyone wishing to receive a refund for tickets already bought need to phone 07780-162664 or 01460-53178.
