ILMINSTER woman Linda Vaus will be putting her best foot forward later this year to help raise money for children’s medical research charity Sparks.
Linda, a mother of two, was inspired to raise funds for the charity after having two healthy children and wanted to support other families who are less fortunate.
Sparks is dedicated to funding research into conditions affecting mums-to-be, babies and children.
Sparks is helping many local families through their diverse range of projects into several conditions, including childhood cancers, cerebral palsy, premature birth and spina bifida.
Linda said: “Like many, running a marathon has been on my ‘list’ for many years and I finally signed up to run the London Marathon in 2012 to mark my 50th birthday.
“I wanted to do something that I could be really proud of, by pushing and challenging myself. I want to stay young, fit and active for many years to come.”
And Linda added: “Sparks is an incredibly worthy charity and I hope that I can raise as much money for them as possible.”
She is hoping to raise her sponsorship in a number of ways. “I will be organising collections, wine tasting events and pub quizzes as well as attending car boot sales to raise as much money as possible for the charity,” she said.
