AVISHAYES visited Ilchester in the semi-final of the U9 cup and despite the home side in second place in the league above they acquitted themselves admirably.

Avishayes were one down within the first two minutes when a break was not dealt with promptly leaving the attackers queuing up to score.

Ilchester playing with the wind had more chances but resilient defence from Oscar Smith and Jacob Lamprill kept the chances to a minimum, a couple of shots were made but Neil Govier saved well.

The second-half had a different swing with the visitors slowly exerting their dominance and created a number of chances from Bradley Loaring and Luke Crowhurst, a handball by the home defence allowed Avishayes to square the tie when Ryan Lewis scored the penalty, shortly afterwards Joshua Lunn had a couple of great chances to score but narrowly went wide.

Ilchester restored their lead with another quick goal from the extra-time restart and with the game flowing either end anything could have happened.

Dean Harding created an opening for Tyler MacDonald who was fouled, but the resulting last free kick of the game could not find its way into the net.
