SOMERSET County Council is putting the finishing touches to a plan that could see wind turbines built in Donyatt.
As part of a Government initiative the council is striving to meet targets on renewable energy and is working on its Wind Energy Initiative.
The council has previously expressed its intention to put wind turbines on its county farm land and more details on how many turbines and where they may be located are expected today (Thursday).
The Donyatt area is home to several county farms, leading to speculation the county may choose to site turbines there.
Following tomorrow's announcement, the authority's executive board will discuss the plans on July 27 and there will be a period of public consultation.
It is understood the county may be considering about 24 turbines across the county as part of pilot scheme.
The county would also need to seek planning permission for the turbines.
Although many people welcome wind turbines as a source of green energy, applications elsewhere in the county have prompted fierce objections from nearby residents.
Energy is a hot topic this week as the Government reveals its ideas on how it wants to generate electricity in future years.
