COLOURFUL planters are adorning the length of Howards Row in Chard again this year thanks the green-fingered efforts of children in the town.
Youngsters from Manor Court, Avishayes, Clare House and Chard School have been planting their own flowerbeds along the lane as part of the Chard in Bloom schools competition.
The large decorative tubs were filled with all manner of floral delights, with the World Cup proving a popular theme.
Judging is due to take place at the end of July, when the most impressive planter will be named best in bloom.
Sandra Pitwood, Chard in Bloom committee secretary, said: “We wanted to carry on with the schools competition despite not entering Britain in Bloom this year.
“It’s not just about the competition, it’s about keeping Chard looking beautiful.”
Chard in Bloom chairman Cllr Dave Hill added: “The children have done a marvellous job.”
