A MAN accused of dealing Class B drugs in Ilminster has been committed to Taunton Crown Court to stand trial.
Matthew Nigel Appleyard, 26, of Wingfield Road, Sherborne, appeared in the dock before Somerset Magistrates at Yeovil.
He was charged that on September 7 last year at Ilminster he had in his possession a quantity of cannabis with intent to supply to another.
Prosecutor Susie Butler said that when police carried out a search of an address where the defendant was staying they found 30.7g of cannabis flowering head.
A further search of a garage revealed a further 270.3g of the drug.
She said the defendant should be sent to the crown court on the basis that the prosecution were alleging Appleyard had a “significant role” in relation to this matter.
She also said there was evidence to suggest the drug was being sold directly to users.
The defendant did not enter a plea to the offence and the magistrates said the allegation was so serious that he must be committed to the crown court.
They adjourned the case until October 8 when Appleyard was ordered to appear before a pre trial hearing at Taunton.
Until then he was released on unconditional bail.
