ILMINSTER’S big Party on the Park will return to the town this weekend as entertainment and attractions descend on the recreation ground.

Organisers have been working hard to ensure a range of activities running throughout the day as Ilminster enjoys a summer celebration.

The sixth annual POP is set to take place on August 26, and live music will start at 1pm and finish at 8pm.

Emma Jane Taylor, one of the organisers, said: “As in previous years, we are extremely excited to bring the local community together through a day of summer celebration, whilst also raising the profile of local community groups and charities.

“This year’s live music line up promises a whole day of lively tunes, with five local acts performing.”

Music will be provided by Yeovil-based band Hillbilly Sunrise, country acoustic duo A Thousands Suns, four-piece rock band PH4SE, Simon Whitlam performing a tribute to the King of Pop Elvis Presley, and finally, A Decade Late, an alternative rock trio from Yeovil.

Emma Jane said: “As always, you will be spoilt for choice with refreshments. Party on the Park 2018 will be catered for by Ilminster Cricket Club, Ilminster Football Club, Eclipse Carnival Club and Gemini Carnival Club.

“There will be a BBQ, burger van, cream tea tent and cider and Pimms/Prosecco bar to quench one’s thirst in the summer heat.”

Other attractions for all the family include an inflatable games area and bouncy castle, with an assault course or climbing wall possibly joining the event.
