BARGAIN-HUNTING parents across Somerset keen to make the most of a unique offer at Build-A-Bear are being warned of eight-hour queues.

Mum Lauren Evans, from Bridgwater, shared these images of mums and dads queueing to take advantage of the Pay Your Age Day promotion at the Cribbs Causeway store in Bristol.

And her message to parents considering making the journey up the M5 to get their hands on a cut-price bear is simple – “don’t bother.”

Lauren said on Facebook: “If anyone’s planning on heading to the Mall at Cribbs for the Build-A- Bear pay your age offer, I wouldn’t bother, there are eight-hour queues.

Chard & Ilminster News:

“This is literally the queue at the Mall in Bristol. I was going to take the kids after school, but I think not.

“Are people seriously taking their kids out of school and nursery for a £5 teddy?”

The promotion has become hugely popular as bears from the retailer can cost as much as £49.

A statement on the Build-A-Bear website says: “Based on the unprecedented response to our Pay Your Age Day event in our early opening stores, we are experiencing significantly longer than expected lines and large crowds.

Chard & Ilminster News:

“Local authorities are requiring us to limit the lines and crowds due to safety concerns.

“We understand this is disappointing, we are working to address the situation, and we will be reaching out to our valued Guests soon.”

The company has also thanked customers for the “unprecedented response over the last 24 hours”.

Build-A-Bear’s nearest branches are at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol, and Exeter.
