A CHARD man  was shocked to discover he had a new housemate after a fully grown male peacock decided to take up residency in his yard for the last two weeks.

Rich Newman, who lives in Chard, was surprised to find the feathery friend on his property.

Rich said: "It has been hanging around for about a fortnight now."

“I went up to Hornsbury Mill because it seemed like something they would have, but they haven’t lost one, so I contacted the press.”

The peacock is believed to have come from the Cuttiford's Door area of Chard.

Hopefully an eagle-eyed reader will spot the straggler and return it to the rightful location.
