A ROADSIDE inn next to the A303 is on the market for the first time in 23 years, with a price tag of £525,000.

Flintlock Inn – formerly known as The Globe – is on the market with Colliers International.

The pub is on A303 on the Somerset border.

Ed Jefferson, from Colliers International’s Hotels Team, said the landmark pub had four traditional trading areas – plus a four bedroom flat, large trade garden and a stone barn offering potential to convert to additional rooms.

He said: “You can’t miss this traditional family inn on the main road through the Blackdown Hills – which has been sympathetically maintained to focus on the catering trade.

“Our clients have owned and operated the property for the past 23 years but with retirement approaching they are keen to pass the inn on to new owners.”

The private owners’ accommodation on the first floor has four double bedrooms, a large living room, kitchen, family bathroom and a separate double bedroom.

There is also a large garden.

Mr Jefferson added: “The stone barn has a historic planning permission which has now lapsed, but our clients are convinced permission would be granted for the conversion.

“The village of Marsh is set in rolling farmland and wooded valleys in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is not far from Taunton, Yeovil and Exeter as well as attracting trade from further afield along the A303.

“This is a healthy business generating net sales of £305,894 which offers new owners an opportunity to live and work in a highly desirable part of the West Country.”
