A GENEROUS cheque for £650 will help to support young carers in Somerset thanks to the fundraising work of Ilminster Rotary.
Jane Gibbs, from the Friends of Somerset Young Carers Project, was on hand last week to collect the giant cheque from the president of the Rotary Club of Ilminster, Veronica Horman.
Collecting the funds, Mrs Gibbs said: “Thank you so much for such a large amount.
“That is going to do so much for us. This money will be for any young carers in Somerset, to help support days out and individual requests.”
Somerset Young Carers Project has helped 1,600 under 18s since it was set up in 2003.
Veronica Horman, president of the rotary club of Ilminster, said: “She didn’t know how much it was going to be.
“This is so great because all the money is going directly to young carers.”
