THE latest concert at Ilminster Arts Centre celebrates the region’s rich tradition of folk music by bringing together an eclectic mix of folk acts on Friday, May 11.

United for one night under the umbrella of ‘Flying Folk’, the performers comprise Kachina Aimee, Bernard Hoskins, ‘the Mobile Pianist’, and Jemima Farey.

Kachina Aimee is a classically trained singer-songwriter who plays harp, piano and guitar, and who enchants audiences with her haunting and mesmeric songs.

Kachina composes her own Celtic and Faery music always taking inspiration and enchantment from the wonders of our natural world.

She performs her own music and covers of Celtic Folk Music.

Kachina recently played at the Shaftsbury Fringe Festival and the Bath Festival 2017 Party in the City to great acclaim. Her clear voice and harp create a palpable atmosphere of magic.

Bernard Hoskin is an acoustic roots singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Cambridge whose distinctive and original sound draws on English song writing and world music rhythms as well as folk, country and blues styles.

An experienced performer, he accompanies himself on 6 and 12 string guitars and mandolin playing a mixture of original and traditional songs and covers.

He has opened for many of the big names of the folk scene including Bert Jansch, Martin Carthy, June Tabor and the Oysterband.

‘The Mobile Pianist’ is a talented and versatile Devon based musician who can ‘play anything’ - from jazz and pop to Latin.

The evening will be compere’d by local rising star and regular Flying Folk MC, Jemima Farey, who will also perform one or two pieces.

Together they will be presenting a widely varied mix of folk material to provide a thoroughly entertaining evening.
