AFTER a west start across Somerset, the weather is set to get brighter but with some showers persisting through the afternoon.

In their south west summary, Met Office said: "It will be a damp start to the day with rain steadily edging westwards.

"Skies will brighten in places, however this will trigger some heavy and locally thundery showers.

"With light winds, these may be slow moving at times."

The maximum temperature is set to be around 14C, before falling to a minimum of 6C overnight.

Tomorrow's forecast said: "Wednesday should be mostly dry with sunny spells and just the odd shower. In the sunshine and light winds it will feel pleasantly warm."

The temperature is set to peak at around 16C.
