AN INVESTIGATION has been launched by police after a car was destroyed in an arson attack in Chard.
The fire service were called to the scene in Snowdon Park shortly after 3pm on Tuesday (March 20).
Police also attended, and have confirmed that an investigation is underway into the circumstances.
Both the police and fire service confirmed they believe the fire was started deliberately.
Members of the public have reported seeing four teenage boys running from the scene.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "The fire service received numerous calls to a vehicle on fire. One crew from Chard attended.
"On arrival the crews confirmed the vehicle was well alight and used two breathing apparatus and one hose to extinguish the fire the had destroyed the vehicle.
"A Honda Accord was completely destroyed by fire and we believe the cause was deliberate.
"The appliance was there for about half an hour."
