A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after a large tree branch snapped off and fell on him, trapping his leg.
Emergency services attended the scene in Brent Street in Highbridge at 11.58pm today (Friday, March 23).
Firefighters from Burnham swiftly got to work and managed to extricate the casualty and he was treated by ambulance crew before he was airlifted to hospital.
A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service Trust said: "We were called today at 11.58am to an area near Brent Street, Highbridge – because of reports someone was trapped under a tree.
"We attended with various resources including two hazardous area response teams. A male patient was taken by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital for treatment."
