WHEN a Crewkerne couple launched their dream business two years ago, they never dreamed they would outgrow their premises and move into the town’s ‘main attraction’.

Steven and Kylie Hammond opened Take a Peek Boutique in March, 2016, dealing in handmade soap hampers, jewellery, cushions, ladies’ and men’s’ accessories, children’s’ toys, home decor and more.

They found unprecedented success over the past two years and have now moved into the Grade-II listed property facing down Crewkerne’s Market Street.

The couple relaunched in their new home on the morning of Saturday, February 3, with Crewkerne Mayor Councillor Ben Hodgson cutting the blue ribbon.

Steven said: “It has been brilliant, super, we have had a couple of really busy days and we can’t complain.

“The new premises is four times the size and we can do more of a range.

“We were in the old shop for two years and we filled it to its maximum.

“Trade has been really, really good – surprisingly good – which gave us the capability to upgrade.

“We have only been in the new place a couple of days and business is booming.”

With the new premises, Take a Peek Boutique has also added a photography studio and offers personalised cups, posters, prints and more.

Of the new shop front, which faces down Crewkerne’s busy market street, Steven said: “We are sort of the main attraction now.

“Being a Grade-II listed building means that it is a talking point of the town, really.

“We have had a lot of members of the public coming in and saying how happy they are that we have taken over the shop.”
