YOU won't be charged a fee for buying items on your credit or debit card from today (Saturday).
But you could still be charged more as companies will still be able to bang on booking or admin fees.
While it's good news that consumers won't be charged extra simply by paying with plastic, some firms may bring in new service charges, while others may stop taking crad payments altogether.
Remember, though, firms will still be able to levy a surcharge if you choose to pay by cash or cheque.
Before today, businesses typically slapped on a 1% or 2% charge for using a credit or debit card, while others added a set fee.
