TAUNTON Town FC's Viridor Stadium hosted Wednesday night's FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup match between Yeovil Town Ladies and Bristol City Women, with the latter emerging 2-0 winners.

Both teams were looking for their first win in this season's competition, and defeat for the Lady Glovers mean they can no longer qualify for the knockout stages.

The Vixens began well in front of 264 fans at Wordsworth Drive, with youngster Lauren Hemp going close with a couple of efforts, and being denied by Yeovil goalkeeper Beth Howard when through one-on-one.

She wasn't to be denied for long, however, as on the half-hour mark she cut inside and fired home to give Bristol the lead.

After Howard denied Hemp again, the Lady Glovers created their best chance of the game so far, as Jessie Jones' shot was deflected onto the post and away.

The visitors made it 2-0 just after the hour, when Belgian international striker Yana Daniëls scored from Hemp's cross from the left.

Yeovil sought a way back into the game, and goalkeeper Caitlin Leach wad forced to make a fine double save, pushing Georgia Evans' effort onto the bar and Ella Pusey's rebound over the top.

But they could not find a way back into it, and so it was Bristol who claimed the derby spoils.
