AN ILTON fete is set to give a real boost to two Somerset causes after receiving the backing of Ilminster businesses.

Angie Blackwell, who owns Cottage Flowers, is holding a country fete on September 2 at Sunnymead, Ilton, in memory of her sister, Valerie Goodland.

Half the money raised will be going to the St Mary and St Peter’s Primary School in Ilton, and the other half of the funds raised will be donated to Musgrove Park Hospital’s Beacon Centre.

Mrs Blackwell said: "A huge thank you from Cottage Flowers to all the businesses supporting our fete.

"It's great to have Ilminster's help and support for two worthy causes and we hope that any money raised will benefit the students at Ilton School and patients using The Beacon Centre at Musgrove.

"We'd like to thank; RNLI Shop, Tesco, Co-op, Harrimans, Harper, Dolman West; Frame of Mind, Greenslade Taylor Hunt, Tarr Residential, Bonners Butchers, Minster Vets and Ilminster Football Club; as well as the villages of Horton, Barrington, Seavington, Puckington, Ilton; and also Barrington Gardening Club, Barrington Ladies, Ilminster WI, Ile Valley Flower Club, Whitelackington Art Club, for their continued support and all of their help towards the fete.

"Donations of any kind are still much appreciated and raffle tickets are still on sale in the shop.

"As well as everyone doing their bit for a good cause, there are a range of attractions at the fete, including pony rides, bouncy castle, skittles, hoopla, tombolas plus much more.

"Entrance is £1 for adults and free for children."
