AS a review into the distance car drivers must give cyclists when passing on a road is taking place, I would like to ask all cyclists to in turn consider pedestrians as they zip past them at speed, particularly on and around the canal/river pathways near Firepool.

Pedestrians do not have eyes in the back of their heads so please ring your bell when coming up behind people walking along to warn them of your approach.

On many occasions, particularly where the paths are narrow in places, I have just missed colliding with a cyclist passing dangerously close from behind and without warning of their approach.

I have on one recent occasion been shouted at to “get out of the way”, which may be a warning, but not a very polite one!
