TWO Crewkerne groups have joined forces in the fight to reduce the nation’s chances of suffering a life-changing stroke.
High blood pressure causes more than half of all strokes and the Stroke Association estimates that more than seven million people across the UK don’t even know that they have the condition.
The Inner Wheel Club of Crewkerne has joined with Crewkerne Rotary and the Stroke Association to invite residents of the town to take a moment to have a free blood pressure test. Representatives will be at hand to offer advice and support on Saturday, May 20, from 10am to noon at The Conservative Club, Falkland Square.
Desi Fradgley, president of Crewkerne Inner Wheel said: “We are proud to work with Rotary and the Stroke Association delivering the blood pressure checking event this year. Stroke strikes every five minutes in the UK, but through events like these, we hope to change this.”
