THE day to celebrate pancakes is nearly upon us, just one week away.
Well, that isn't the whole point of the day, Shrove Tuesday is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday.
This year Shrove Tuesday falls on Tuesday, February 28, as it always falls 47 days before Easter Sunday.
Shrove Tuesday was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast and pancakes were the perfect way of using up these ingredients.
But these days, it's an excuse to eat as many pancakes as you can for one day of the year.
Whether it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner, savoury or sweet- pancakes come in all shapes and sizes.
