Stand-up comedian and panel show regular Mark Watson will be coming to Mawnan Smith as he attempts to get to the places other comedians don't reach.

After performing more than 111 dates in 2016 with his show I'm Not Here, and a similar marathon effort with his previous tour, Mark Watson was amazed to find there are still some areas of the country he's not visited much.

For his new tour, MW, he's narrowed his list of destinations down only visiting places beginning with his initials M or W, his initials - as they've already shown a commitment by having those names in the first place.

A few of these will be favourite old haunts like Winchester or Manchester, but quite a few of them are the result of Googling and some are so remote that he won't know they definitely exist until he gets there. Also, some aren't actually towns so much as trains (from Marylebone to Wycombe), or ferries (across the Mersey), or a helicopter museum (in the double-point-scoring Middle Wallop).

The material will be a mixture of the classic and the never-before-seen. And in some cases a fair bit of it will be about being on a train.

Mark Watson has regularly appeared on the BBC's Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock the Week, Would I Lie To You and Have I Got News For You, and Dave’s Argumental, and has performed stand-up on BBC 1’s Live At The Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Channel 4’s Comedy Gala.

He was also the star of Dave’s Road to Rio, as well as the host of BBC 4’s We Need Answers.

As well as his TV work, Mark was nominated for best newcomer at the 2005 Perrier Awards, before being awarded the 2006 if.comedy panel prize for performing one of his marathon stand-up shows. He took home the Time Out Critics Choice Award in 2006 and has been nominated for a Barry Award from the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

As well as his TV and live work Mark has had a number of critically acclaimed radio shows, including his BBC Radio 4 series’ Mark Watson Talks A Bit About Life, Mark Watson Makes The World Substantially Better and Mark Watson’s Live Address To The Nation, as well as 100 Million or Bust on BBC Radio 5 Live, where he is also a regular contributor to Fight Talk.

Mark Watson will be performing on September 8 at Trebah Garden Amphitheatre in Mawnan Smith.
