A CHARD woman who admitted being drunk and disorderly during an incident in the town denied that she assaulted a police officer as well.
Helen Mary McConnell appeared before Somerset Magistrates at Yeovil charged with the two offences which are said to have taken place on December 8 last year.
The 56-year-old defendant, of Ravensmead, admitted being drunk and disorderly at Essex Close in Chard.
However she pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police constable in the execution of his duty on the same date.
Following a review of the case both matters were adjourned until April 10 when McConnell must stand trial over the denied offence.
In the meantime she was released on unconditional bail.
