CRESTA swimming pool's re-opening has been put back once again.

The Chard leisure centre, based in Zembard Lane, has been shut since November 24 after issues with the pool's ventilation system.

Somerset County Council Scientific Services team carried out tests on the site on Monday, with the results initially expected to be returned on December 1.

This was then pushed back until today, and has now been moved to tomorrow.

This means the earliest the pool will open is Wednesday, December 7.

A spokesman for the centre said: "Unfortunately Cresta Swimming Pool will remain closed until Wednesday, December 7 due to maintenance issues.

"We are hopeful that we will be back open as normal on the Wednesday morning.

"We will continue to update this page and our Facebook page as we have more information. We apologies for the inconvenience caused."

The spokesman added that the latest delay in the test results is "due to technical issues."

They added: "1610, the pool leisure operator, has informed members and community groups who use the pool about the closure and apologises for any inconvenience that the closure may cause and it is also grateful for their understanding and patience in regard to this matter.

"1610 will update members about any further changes on the 1610 website. www.1610.org.uk."
