AN argument on the way home from his brother’s funeral led to a Chard man allegedly assaulting his partner and grabbing her by the throat while she was at the wheel of the car, a court heard.
Corin Stanley Kane Corrick was said to have punched and slapped the dashboard of the car and then grabbed the complainant round the throat while she was driving.
Corrick, 28, of Fawcus Place, denied assaulting his partner by beating during the incident at Chard on October 20 when he appeared before Somerset magistrates.
Defending solicitor Chris Ivory told the court at Yeovil the defendant denied assaulting the complainant during interview and accepted there was an argument but no physical contact occurred.
A review of the case was carried out and the allegation was adjourned until January 18 when Corrick must return to the court for a trial to take place.
In the meantime he was released on conditional bail.
