AN ILMINSTER woman has vowed to keep on fundraising for cancer charities after her dad passed away from terminal cancer.

Michelle Dymond signed up for the 2017 London Marathon and started organising a host of other fundraisers after her father Michael Hobbs was diagnosed with terminal cancer in June.

Her main fundraising event is a special live band, disco and auction event at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club which is expected to raise £4,000.

She has also raised nearly £1,000 in donations for her London Marathon effort.

Mrs Dymond said: “My dad sadly passed away on September 2 at the Weldmar Hospice in Dorchester.

“Our live band and disco event is at Cricket St Thomas on October 15.

“It is £10 per ticket and includes all entertainment and a light buffet too.

“We also have a silent auction on the night with signed merchandise kindly donated by Manchester United amongst other things. We are hoping it will be a big event, with around 400 tickets to sell.

“I am raising vital funds for the Institute of Cancer Research and St Margaret’s Hospice.”

“I have been accepted onto the London Marathon 2017 team for the Institute of Cancer Research, as well as a couple of half marathons and obstacle races between now and then, and currently organising a number of local events to raise the money so desperately needed.”

The charity music event will feature live music from Utter Chaos and a night disco by Scorpion Discos.

Doors will open at 7pm, with the event set to run from 7.30pm to 12.30pm.
