The man who died in a crash in Othery has been named.

Piotr Polinski, aged 52, from Inowroclaw, Poland, died in a crash at 7:30am on July 19 on the A361, Grove Hill, between the Pathe Road junction and the School Lane junction.

His lorry is reported to have come off the road, hit a car and rolled over in a field.

South Western Ambulance Service attended.

A spokesperson said: "A lorry came off the road, hit a car and rolled over into a field.

"The driver, who was Polish, was trapped and had gone into cardiac arrest.

"Two double ambulance crew responders attended, as well as three RRVs, an officer, the HART team, an air ambulance plus two private doctors.

"There was also a second patient in the car that the lorry hit and they were treated for a spinal injury."

Fire engines from Bridgwater, Taunton and the rescue tender from Taunton were also sent to the crash.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "On arrival crews discovered a road traffic collision involving a road sweeper that had left the road. One person was heavily trapped.

"Crews used two sets of hydraulic cutting equipment to release the casualty from the vehicle.

"The ambulance and the police also attended this incident."
