A NEW music class for youngsters in Ilminster is set to be udderly wonderful.

Called Moo Music, the idea behind the scheme is to help babies and youngsters learn music in a fun and stimulating environment.

The classes have been held across the country, and feature songs written by well-known children's songwriter Craig McLeish. There are six characters, Maggie Moo, Ollie Oink, Henry Horse, Doris Duck, Barry Baa and Holly Hen for the children to get to know and love, with plenty of singing, dancing and playing instruments ensuring a real moo-sical feast.

Krissie Isaac, who will be leading the classes in Ilminster, said: "Moo Music is a fantastic way of teaching young children a whole range of skills while they also have great fun and burn off some energy in a fun and stimulating environment.

“I have been running classes across the Taunton area for almost two years and it’s so rewarding to watch young children develop and grow in confidence in the classes as they come week by week.

“The quality of the Moo Music songs makes this class a joy to be a part of – plus the songs are instantly loved by parents too as they make a great change from the normal children’s nursery rhymes.

“The team behind Moo Music knows that music is key to every child’s development. Not only do the classes give children the chance to sing and have fun but to gain vital language, memory and co-ordination skills as well.”

She added: “I’ve been running Moo Music classes for nearly two years now and it’s brilliant fun.

“I’m so excited to be bringing the classes to the children of Ilminster this summer and I hope the babies and children that come along love it as much as I do.”

Classes run for approximately 40 minutes each and feature a variety of Moo Music songs with different themes as well as including some favourite staple songs that are played weekly, and parents are encouraged to join in too.

The classes begin at the Archie Gooch Pavilion on Thursday mornings from July 28, and cost £5 per class or £20 for a block of six.
