A CREWKERNE shop is celebrating after it was named as the finalist in a county-wide business awards.

Delilah Petal, a gift and card shop in Church Street, Crewkerne, was named as a finalist in the Somerset Muddy Stilettos Awards 2016.

The small independent shop was nominated in the best gift shop category by their loyal customers.

The final round of voting was held over three days, as Delilah Petal competed with four other shops from across the region for the prize.

Taunton store Ginger Fig narrowly took first place in the voting, ahead of Delilah Petal, Seed in Frome, Wilfred & Alice in Clevedon, and Bloomsbury Store in Bath.

The shop is run by mother and daughter Tess and Siobhan Bell.

The pair said they were disappointed they didn’t win top spot, but added: “We were very proud and happy to make the final and want to thank all our lovely customers that took the time to vote for us.”

The mother and daughter duo opened the shop in May 2010, and the Crewkerne store is open from Monday to Friday, from 9am until 5pm, and on Saturday from 9am until 4pm.

Muddy Stilettos was first launched as a blog in 2011 and after developing as a business now covers nine counties including Somerset.

There were 30 categories at the county-wide awards, including Best Gift Shop category in which Delilah Petal was nominated.
