IN THE last 40 days there have been 28 reported crimes within the town of Ilminster.

The figures were published at the Annual Town Council meeting yesterday evening as part of a monthly police report.

These incidents included eight theft from shops and businesses, five assaults, two instances of criminal damage, one theft from a shed or garages, six public order offences, two Anti-Social Behaviour incidents, and one drugs offence.

The report, which was from April 3 to May 12, added: "Good evening to you all. Since the last police report we have remained busy, dealing with the usual and the unusual things that occur in our town and surrounding villages.

"There is still no confirmed date regarding the station move to the doctors' surgery. It is however looking very likely that it will be within the next few days. Most of the previously mentioned minor issues have now been resolved.

"If you think a crime may be in progress, about to happen or that offenders are still nearby - regardless of the time of day or night - call 999.

"When reporting a crime please call the following numbers: General enquires number and crime reporting 101 or in case of emergency 999, or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. Your call cannot be traced and you will not be asked your name."
