A SOMERSET county councillor has officially opened a new pathway in Combe St Nicholas.

County councillor for Chard North, Nigel Pearson, officially opened the new path and access points in Underway Meade, Combe St Nicholas, on Monday.

The new path and gateways have been installed to encourage greater use of Underway Meade and to make it safer for anyone walking between Wadeford and Combe.

The work was funded by a contribution from Cllr Pearson’s health and wellbeing fund, as well as grants and donations from the parish council, Combe Local Ladies, Combe and Wadeford Gala Committee and various individuals.

Lynn Osborne, chairman of Combe St Nicholas Parochial Trust, said: “We hope that as more people become aware of this lovely public open space, they will visit it for a walk and enjoy the wildlife and peaceful surroundings.”
