TV star Denise Van Outen is calling on Somerset households to join a recycling revolution.
The star of BBC TV's Any Dream Will Do' is backing Recycle Now Week to encourage us to recycle more household and garden waste - which is being supported by Somerset County Council.
Recycle Now Week runs until Friday and Denise is offering some simple tips to get into the recycling habit - Don't throw it outen - recycle!' She said: "We all know that green is the new black, so I hope everyone in Somerset will get involved in Recycle Now Week.
"I've been into recycling for several years, and it's great to see that it's no longer something just a few of us do.
"In fact, with everyone from George Clooney and Cameron Diaz to Lily Cole championing environmental issues, going green has never been more fashionable."
Cllr Hazel Prior-Sankey, Somerset's Portfolio Holder for Waste and Transport, said: "Recycling has become a lot easier, and the vast majority of our household waste can be recycled, either through the kerbside recycling service or at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre and is one of the simplest and most effective things we can all do to help the environment."
Denise van Outen's tips are: 1. Don't throw it outen: Use your council's kerbside recycling collection.
2. Get your hands dirty: Get a compost bin for garden and food waste.
3. Keep it in the kitchen: Put a recycling container next to your kitchen bin.
4. Buy it loose: When shopping, buy loose fruit and vegetables, rather than pre-packed. Get a bag for life' rather than using plastic bags.
