BRIDGWATER has received its first snowfall of 2016 today as the temperatures fell after days of wind and rain.

The Met Office forecast snow for the area today and residents of Bridgwater were treated to a slight sprinkle of the white stuff in the late morning and early afternoon.

It doesn't look like the snow was sticking, however, so nobody had enough time to build a snowman, but this photo by Kieran Neale shows the snow falling.

The snow provided a bit of light relief following days of howling winds and driving rain, and there could be yet more to come.

The temperature looks like it will continue to fall over the next few days to around 1 to 2 degrees celsius, meaning that snow or sleet could fall.

However, the start of the weekend looks as though it may herald more wind and rain, with them both forecast on Saturday and Sunday
