ROTARY Clubs from Crewkerne, Chard and Ilminster joined forces at Wadham School this week to oversee the annual Technology Tournament in which rival schools pit their wits against each other to come up with solutions to a technical problem.
This year’s challenge involved devising a way to get a load from across one side of a river bank across to the other side, and in the case of the intermediate teams, to find a way of dropping it at the other side.
A total of 60 pupils from Swanmead in Ilminster, Buckler’s Mead in Yeovil, and Maiden Beech and Wadham from Crewkerne took part.
It was agreed by all to be an important and fun activity that helps to raise the profile of engineering in the area.
Crewkerne Rotary club president Peter Woodward was joined by chief judge, Ilminster Rotarian Peter McKay, who is from Gooch & Housego, as the Wadham Three team received their trophy.
