This morning's bright start could be set to last throughout the day as Mid Devon avoids the thunder and heavy rain predicted for the South West, the Met Office have said.

In a summary on the Met Office, it said: "A chilly but bright start to the day. Scattered showers will develop, turning heavy and thundery in places, especially this afternoon. Cooler than yesterday, but feeling pleasant in any sunshine."

However, this area could be set to avoid the bad weather, with the chance of rain staying at <5% throughout the day.

The maximum temperature for today will be 18°C.

Tomorrow is set to be a bit colder, with a maximum temperature of 14°C, with the Met Office predicting a 10% chance of rain from 6am until 10am.

The statement on the Met Office website said: "Cloudier than today but with some sunny intervals and further scattered showers, although these will be lighter and less frequent. Feeling pleasant in any sunshine and lighter winds."
