A bright start to day could lead to thunder and heavy rain later in Somerset, the Met Office have said.

In a summary on the Met Office, it said: "A chilly but bright start to the day. Scattered showers will develop, turning heavy and thundery in places, especially this afternoon. Cooler than yesterday, but feeling pleasant in any sunshine."

Although there is less than 10% chance of rain throughout the day, that is due to rise to a 30% chance of rainfall for Taunton from 6pm until 9pm.

The maximum temperature for today will be 18°C.

Tomorrow is set to be a bit colder, with a maximum temperature of 14°C, although the Met Office have said there is a <5% chance of rain throughout Thursday and most of Friday.

The statement on the Met Office website said: "Cloudier than today but with some sunny intervals and further scattered showers, although these will be lighter and less frequent. Feeling pleasant in any sunshine and lighter winds."

In traffic news, there has been an accident on Lambrook Road, causing the road to become partially blocked around Lambrook Way, near the Riverside Church.
