THE children at St John’s Primary School enjoyed a lovely summer celebration for their Year 6 leavers with an outdoor extravaganza.

To celebrate a very successful year, this coincided with the grand opening of the new ‘Sensory Garden’ at the front of the school, which has been in the making for the last three months.

Mrs Gloria Copley, a former Governor, was invited to cut the ribbon to officially open the new garden.

She gave a wonderful speech where she praised the lovely new addition to the school and all the hard work from children and staff.

This was all made possible by funds acquired from kind donations from members of the community, including Waitrose, who with the help of the local ‘community matters fund’ raised more than £1,000 towards the new garden area.

The Friends of St John’s donated a large sum which included money to buy the beautiful plants and benches.

The evening was finished with a bbq for the Year 6 leavers, parents and staff alike.
